One of the thirty-two towns in the province of Batangas, Ibaan is a second-class municipality and one of the smallest, but among the most progressive. According to the 2020 census, there are 26 barangays, which together have 58,507 inhabitants in 14,837 households.

Located 96 kilometers (60 miles) south of Manila. With five distinct communities surrounding it, its location is extremely unique. The northwest is bordered by San Jose, the northeast is Lipa City, the east is Rosario, the southeast is Taysan, and the southwest is Batangas City. It has a land area of 68.99 square kilometers (26.64 square miles) and an above-sea level elevation of 178 meters (584 feet).

Only a small fraction of this primarily Roman Catholic town are Protestants and Iglesia ni Cristo members. The oldest church in town and the seat of the Roman Catholic community in Ibaan is the Archdiocesan Shrine & Parish of St. James the Greater. While there are several locations for the indigenous Iglesia ni Cristo in the town, including chapels at Coliat and Matala.

Tagalog is the local language in the Batangueño dialect;, however, English is taught in schools and is frequently used for business transactions.

The climate is mild both during the rainy and dry seasons, which is ideal for farming, poultry, and livestock raising.

Ibaan has been renowned for being the home of "kulambo" (mosquito net), which at the time was the most lucrative business in town. Ibaan is also well-known for its banana-wrapped "tamales, handwoven textiles, pork-based dishes, and sugarcane, from which the festival "Les Kuhliembo" was adapted and celebrated annually on February 11, the town's founding day.
